1.- CONCEPTS

a.- What is a front?

b.- Which mass of air weighs less: warm air or cold air?

c.- Which mass of air is heavier and more dense: warm air or cold air?

d.- Put in order the following process and copy it in order in your notebook:
  • When it cools, water vapour transforms into droplets as it condenses and forms clouds.
  • Warm air rises, as it is not very heavy.
  • When a cloud contains too much water, it precipitates to the Earth´s surface.
  • When it rises, it gets colder and colder.


2.- WARM FRONT

b.- Put in order the following sentences and copy them below your picture, building a paragraph.

___ The warm air rises slowly, and cools and condenses.
___ A warm front inclines because the cold air mass is heavier and moves under the warm air mass.
___ Long periods of light rain are produced.


3.- COLD FRONT

___ Short periods of heavy rain are produced.
___ This causes warm air to rise quickly.
___ The warm air mass inclines vertically.
___ A cold front is produced when a cold aire mass moves and pushes into a warm air mass.
